Met friends for dinner at Ginny Lane last night. Noise level in restaurants is an issue for me as I have some hearing loss, but I had no difficulty at Ginny Lane. Great acoustics. Open dining room, lots of light, we had a comfy booth. We also had an excellent server - very attentive and helpful - and we all loved our food. We shared the artichoke dip appetizer and the fried green tomatoes and I loved both. For dinner, I had the shrimp and grits and it was frankly perfect. Maybe the best I have ever had. We topped it off with an order of vanilla bread pudding to split between the four of us, and wow! Amazing. I would definitely recommend Ginny Lane to anyone visiting the area. I am thrilled that the gulf shores/orange beach area has progressed beyond fried seafood restaurants over the last few years. Ginny Lane is somewhere you can have a relaxing meal with great food. Nicely done!!

Food is overpriced and service is slow. I won't be back. We were really disappointed after reading reviews on yelp. Shrimp were small and serving sizes are small.

The service here was abominable, and the food was mediocre enough to warrant me never making a second appearance. I ordered coffee that came half an hour later and was cold, even though it was "freshly brewed", and my order, though clear, was brought out wrong. Needs a lot of changes to be made.

Excellent service, and food that actually got BETTER as I ate more of it. So firstly, there's the service. We were able to call ahead and make reservations, only 15 minutes ahead of time, which is awesome. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was kind and attentive. I am on a very specific diet, and she was more than willing to help make sure that I got what I needed. Now onto the food itself - I got the filet, and it was incredible. Cooked perfectly, only lightly seasoned, and yet so flavorful. Fresh zucchini was the perfect side to go with it. They had live music, and the band played all kinds of great classics to accompany the great food. Nothing could have been better - It was all excellent. Highly recommended!

This place was terrible. The service sucked, the waiter was kind of creepy and everything took forever. The oysters were fishy and disgusting. Defiantly not fresh. The bisque was bland and crackers were cheap, not premium. My boyfriend ordered the grouper with lump crab on top and he said not only was it not good but that it was not grouper and the lump crab on top looked and tasted more like cut up pieces of fish. We will never go here again and I would not recommend ANYONE eat here.

You know those places you go to and you want to like, you walk away satisfied, but there's those nagging issues that ware on you. Ginny Lane, has got good ambiance, great outdoor eating spot and a comfortable staff. I was just a little put off by the fact it's the same owner as the Villagio, a place I would go back to twice. But,my friends speak highly of Ginny Lane, so while I'm here I'll give it a try. Staff like I said was very professional, I got the Blackened Steak and Caesar and an Ice tea. The salad was very big; however, it had 43 croutons on it. 43 is an impressive number, just not for the crouton. The salad it's self was laid out pretty good, wasn't really a Caesar, although the Caesar dressing was good. On top of the salad was 7 strips of steak, in all it was a pretty good portion, but once again it lacked that blackening seasoning. My waitress was prompt at filling up my tea glass, and she was quite nice. Some of the things I found daunting was the fact a local artist was selling her artwork at Ginny Lane, some pieces were nice, but the price tag was blazoned on it, taking away the warm ambiance feel to Ginny Lane and making it more or less feel like your dining at a Walmart. I figure catalog the prices or make them substancially smaller, I think both Ginny Lane and the artist would fare better. I would give Ginny Lane another try as opposed to there sister restaurant Villagio where I suffered from blasé food and an apathetic staff. I'll just tell them to hold the croutons! ;o)

Ginny Lane has long been a favorite of ours and we make an annual stop when we're in town. Our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Our food was nicely prepared. Our table had excellent Shrimp and grits, ribeye, filet oscar, and sides. We also enjoyed a round of fried green tomatoes, also nicely done. The Mojito I had was good on flavor, the the bar tender mistakenly blended the mint, so it was mint-pulpy. Mojitos are better with whole leaves under the ice. I couldn't get a sip without some mint sticking in my teeth. Otherwise, a good experience.

We just had a perfect meal in every way! Honestly! We wanted delicious and fast, but not fast food. We had an incredibly short amount of time to eat...were seated in a clean outside patio area and had an informative and very friendly server, Barbara. She made every effort to have our dinner to us quickly and with the best and most courteous hospitality. The fried shrimp poboy was fabulous! I especially enjoyed the specialty mustard! One guest had the delicious gumbo...filled with all the best seafood! Another in my party had the shrimp and artichoke soup which needed more shrimp, but was very tasty none the less. Grilled and blackened flounder, as well as, grouper bites rounded out our dinner...all of which were perfectly seasoned and prepared. Again, you just cannot beat great and pleasant service....and Barbara fit the bill! Thank you!!!

They did a fabulous wedding rehearsal dinner for our huge wedding party of about 40 folks. Everything was beautifully set up without my guidance and they definitely exceeded our expectations and kicked off our wedding weekend on a great note. Food was great, drinks were pouring and we lucked out with live music playing that night on their patio. If you ever need a place for rehearsal dinner or a nice big party, go to Ginny Lane and they will be sure to make it a great one to remember.

Went for their Sunday Brunch.. Fairly obvious they are trying to be like the Pensacola Fish House. Same sort of food, same drink specials. We had Shrimp and Grits and a lobster special. Both were good and presented nicely. Server was good as well. Reasonable pricing, but no beignets, bummer. Close but no cigar when compared to the Fish House.

While on vacation, we headed over to Ginny Lane for dinner one night. We wanted to check out the Wharf area and had read great things about the restaurant. When we got there, we noticed a sign up advertising a SWEETWATER BEER DINNER for Thursday night and we were there on Tues. We changed our reservation for the beer dinner of course! The beer dinner was perfect. We sat outside with perfect strangers and had a blast. The food was beyond incredible. Hats off to the folks at Ginny Lane for bringing innovative cuisine to the Gulf Shores area. It was very fun to talk to locals and tourists, as well as meet the Sweetwater folks. This is something that made our vacation more memorable!

We had a group of about 32 people (6 families or something like that) and we kind of took over the place on a sunday night. The waiter for the adults was a little overwhelmed with how to break up bills with the kids, etc. but the waitress who took care of the kids was awesome. She knew their names and really kept them happy while their parents lingered over drinks. Everyone in our big group really liked their food. No complaints at all from 32 people! I had the salmon and my wife had the crab cakes. BIG burgers looked good too. They probably wouldn't have been able to handle us so well on a busier night but I would definitely return there with a smaller group. Would like to see The Wharf come back a little...!

Ginny Lane is a great place to get southern-style Creole type food, with many of the items blackened or spicy, though my grandmother who likes food that is more bland had no problem either. The waiters were a bit subdued, but overall we had a good experience. My husband ordered a large Cesaer salad with chicken ($10), and I ordered the shrimp BLT wrap ($10). We also shared a cup of the shrimp and artichoke bisque, which we would both highly recommend. My grandmother ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer ($9), which was pretty bland expect for the sauce, though the presentation was very nice. All that, another Shrimp BLT, and a beer came out to around $50, which seemed pretty reasonable to me. I would be interested in going back there to try additional meals that sounded yummy.

Went there for lunch today. I ordered the Shrimp and Goat Cheese salad. It was very good. It comes with shrimp, goat cheese medallions, green apple, red onion, walnuts, and craisins. I chose the balsamic dressing. I order similar salads frequently and this was one of the best. I am attending a conference at the wharf so i will probably go back tomorrow for lunch again! Service was good also and probably a fun atmosphere for a few drinks at night too.

Shrimp n grits were the best we had on the trip.We went for brunch and all I remember about the meal was shrimp and grits. Bloody Mary was on special, but might as well have been virgin.

To our disappointment we found this place closed permanently on the wharf .

I just had their panned seared flounder for lunch and it was delicious. Just the right size for lunch. Then topped it off with their brandy infused creme brûlée which was the best I have had. Next time I will try another entree.

Great meal! Great service. Awesome food. We had the steak and crab cake special and my husband was near tears he was so happy with it. Will definitely be returning here.

Very very very slow service. Not even that busy in here, about a half full restaurant. Bartender pours a three inch head on your beer.

My wife and I had a very nice lunch at Ginny's last week. She ordered a pecan-crusted chicken salad and I had the day's special, which was Triggerfish and veggies. Our meals were very good and worth every cent. We were especially impressed with our waitress who, inadvertently, told us the special was grilled Triggerfish when it was actually Grouper. Another waitress later told us that, since I had been told the special was Triggerfish, that's what I was served- at no extra cost. Our waitress received a nice tip! It's nice to see a restaurant make a true effort to please customers- and expect nothing in return. Oh, we rated Ginny's number two on our list of a dozen restaurants in OB/Gulf Shores, only to be beaten by Cobalt.

Had lunch here on vacation - it's part of an outdoor mall so no spectacular views but the food makes up for it. I had the fish tacos which were wonderful. They also serve you sweet cheesy muffins while waiting for your food so A+ for that. Overall, great service and great food.

As a frequent visitor to the Orange Beach area, and a food lover (not quite food "snob" but I like to think I know a good meal), Ginny Lane is my new favorite restaurant among the many choices down at the beach. Located at the new Wharf area, it's just about a 15 minute drive from the Perdido/Orange Beach area, and just a bit longer from Gulf Shores--but definitely worth the trip! My friends and I went here first two summers ago, and it's still good--they have not succumbed to mass-producing crappy food for the rush of tourists like all the other places down there. Actually, that might be the reason why there isn't a huge rush of families and kids in Ginny Lane--it's a small restaurant and you can immediately tell it's more upscale, not cheesy and trendy. My absolute favorite, hands down meal there is the baked grouper (I think that's what it's called)--anyway, it's grouper drenched with a creamy lump crab sauce served atop the best mushroom risotto I've had in a long time. They also give you steamed seasonal veggies on the side. YUM. I have never had anything else for my own meal, and have been here about five times now! But I've tried my friends meals and they are equally delicious--shrimp and grits, sauteed diver scallops wrapped in prosciutto, seafood pasta salad--all excellent! Whatever you get make sure you ask for the mushroom risotto though. For apps, anything is good--the portobello stack, the blue cheese crab dip, crab cakes, you can't go wrong! It's a little on the upscale side (expect entrees to be in the $18-28 range) but hey it's at the beach, so "casual dressy" is fine. They also have great live entertainment most nights. I highly recommend this place!

We arrived at 6:50pm on a Friday evening and had a large party of 13 we requested a table in the main dining area to watch the live local band play. We were told there was an hour wait, no problem band didn't come on until 8pm. Our party went to the bar and order drinks while we waited, the bartender was NOT warm and welcoming, he looked like he hated his job and didn't want to be there. So, after waiting they sat multiple small families throughout the place which resulted in our large party not being able to be accommodated in the section where the band plays. Very upsetting. I asked if our large group could be split up and sit all back to back in the 4-5 booths and we were told the manager wouldn't allow that. They say us in the bar and we had 3 children in our group, we didn't want to be in the bar because of our children AND we wanted to watch the live band in person while we enjoyed dinner. The place NEVER filled up, so I am unsure why the manager wouldn't let us sit in the booth section where the band was playing. I asked the server to take a picture of our table and he seemed irritated like he didn't want to do it, but he took my phone and then carelessly took a couple of pictures none of which had all our guests in any of the pictures. If you work in a touristy area GET USED TO PEOPLE WANTING PICTURES OF THEIR PARTIES. Our server wasn't loud enough for me to hear him and didn't seem happy to be at work either, so it set the mood bad. To try and lighten the mood a few of our guests tried cracking some jokes to have him loosen up but he wasn't having it. Apparently he asked several times if we needed refills on our waters and I NEVER heard him. If you are going to serve a large party SPEAK UP. He also couldn't remember who was on who's tab and all our checks were messed up instead of dealing with him any longer we all paid and left. Oysters were the smallest I have ever seen and we have better ones in Texas. I had the Bayou Grouper and it was rubbery and tough it didn't fall apart as I am used too, they also served their peel and eat shrimp with cocktail sauce that was served in a cheap plastic container.. for their prices I would NOT expect plastic cups.. invest in glassware. Brussels sprouts were small as well and bland. Steak was "alright", per my husband but he's had better in OB. We wouldn't visit here again because of the long wait and we didn't get to sit where we wanted and multiple employees seemed pissed off and as a vacationer I don't want to see anyone pissed off. GO HOME!

This was a 2-star dining experience in a place that was trying to be 4 stars. Too many issues to justify anything more than, as Yelp perfectly states, "Meh. I've experienced better". We came in on a Saturday night before going to a concert, and were immediately seated on the patio. Our server came by quickly and took care of our drink orders. We skipped the appetizers and went straight for dinner. I opted for a cup of gumbo and the Pear & Pecan salad with shrimp (I eat a lot of seafood while I'm visiting this area!). The salad was good, but they forgot my shrimp. And, my gumbo. So I had to sit there with a naked salad while the kitchen cooked the shrimp. It all worked out in the end, but it was a red flag. They also overcooked my father in law's prime rib. It was well done when it hit the table, when our server insisted it would be prepared medium rare like he asked. On the bright side, my fiance liked his grouper dish a lot. I didn't care for the sauce though. There were a few other issues I can't recall at the moment, but overall, Ginny Lane didn't live up to the hype. Also, [who I assume was] the manager that night was walking around with servers and plates of food looking for the person who ordered it. It just looked really unprofessional to see management being that disorganized. And, overall, the service was really slow. I saw several tables without food and looking expectantly for their server while we were there. I don't know if it was an off night, but I expected better preparation considering there was a major concert happening that night. The worst part of the experience, and of The Wharf in general, is they only serve Pepsi. Apparently, they have a monopoly on the place. Regardless, as a native Atlantan, Pepsi is never okay. Like it's never okay to pay for your dinner with Monopoly money. I doubt I'll give this place another try if I'm in the area. I'll probably go down the street to the BBQ hut and save some money while I'm at it.

The Oyster Sampler, Gumbo and Coconut Shrimp were good but nothing spectacular. The ambience was great! We really enjoyed the sunset while sobering up after the Top of the Hops Beer Fest. Our bill was $50 for an appetizer, bowl of gumbo and an entree.

Really good experience. We had a couple of the specialty whiskey drinks off the menu, and they were really good. Started with the jalapeño baked oysters and they were outstanding! The bread they brought for the table was really good too, had some awesome homemade butter. For a meal I got the Bayou Grouper. I substituted the Brussels sprouts for the risotto. My wife got the portobello mushroom salad with shrimp and the entire meal was really good.

We tried Ginny Lane on a Monday night for their steak special. What a joke! Their steak special consisted of half of a steak. LOL. Oh by the way it was the bad half of the steak. We both had to send our steaks back because they were full of gristle. Then when the check came, the recommended tip was based on the full price of a steak, not the half of a steak that we purchased. Really!!! I think I know how to tip by now. Ginny Lane is part of the same group that owns Gilbeys and Vellagio which are two very good restaurants. They really dropped the ball with this one. They certainly should know better. If they want to run a steak special, maybe they should offer one like Shipps Harbor Grill who really seem to attract locals and offer a good value. With their steak special, you get a full fillet not a half of one.

Went here while on vacation with friends. We started with the fried green tomatoes and blackened shrimp appetizer! I had a wonderful salad with fresh mixed greens, blackened shrimp, cranberries, seared goat cheese, cucumbers, pecans, and a homeade basalmic vinegarette. One of the best salads I have had in a while. Our waitress was very good about making suggestions, and checking on us throughtout the meal.

Great shrimp & grits. Delicious artichoke soup. Some of the best, biggest, sweetest shrimp I have had in years. That says a lot coming from a NOLA girl. Def a place to return to!

3.5 stars Food - a solid "good"; not spectacular, lacking a finishing touch (my scallops could have used some lemon juice; they did a good job with the fish dishes our table ordered but again, it was not spectacular). Service- very friendly but not prompt. Our waitress was working tables inside and outside and we were rarely checked on. It felt like they were a server or two short. Atmosphere - classic clean look; not particularly comfortable or cozy but not bad. The restaurant is definitely better than most places in the area and we will probably go back.
